Anyone got this combo? If so how easy are the 598s to fit/remove? Do they drop in from the top or slide in from the ends? If the latter do you have to bugger around with rubber strips?
Apologies for the boring thread but getting tired of waiting for a reply from Roofbox
Dunno about the whispbars but the 598 comes with T track fittings that slide in from the end and require the rubber strips to be cut. Takes seconds though.
You can also buy adaptors that wrap around the bars but I've not tried them.
I use them on Thule wing bars. They slide in from the side. They are fine if you take your time, although I prefer to have a helper if the bars are already on the car. Just make sure you expose enough T to get them into the slot. Some silicon spray lube is also useful.
Whispbars don't have rubber strips you cut / remove. They are designed to deform around the thing you're putting in them.

Plenty of silicon lube then 😉
I have a 598 + whispbars.
As above don't cut the rubber strips up, the feet slide in above them from the ends. I can't say it's the most convenient action to perform with just two hands as you have to hold the rack up, position the feet and ideally hold the end of the rubber strip in place, but lubing up the strips with even just water helps a lot.
Thanks all, roof box sent me a pdf showing it. The Whispbar rack with the mounts that drop in from the top look much easier but the rack itself doesn't look as good. Have ordered the Whispbars and 598s so will have a can of juice lube at the ready!
