Hay guys,

Rescued a Marin Palisades Trail from the scrap heap the other day, gonna SS it and use it as a comuter. Has been sat outside for 3 years so needs some TLC. Have stripped it back to frame, bars and brakes

They hydraulic rim brakes? Magura? Don't have any but will be interested to see how they survived the enforced rest...

Edit, now I have seen the before picture I am not sure I would have done much more than swap tyres and lube up for a first ride ๐Ÿ™‚

Nice, I had a Marin Team from the same year. 1996 or 1997 IIRC. Featherlight steel frame.

Having trouble getting the main part of the bb out of the frame. Got the lock ring out after a fight but the main bb won't budge. Covered it in wd40 inside and out and going to leave it overnight to see if that helps.

Had the seat tube ground down and fitted a non qr coller, grips, seatpost and saddle. Tyres fitted to rims (shwalbe CX Comp) so just waiting for the ss conversion and to get the bb changed over

Did you hit the tool to do that ,
Have found they can be rather brittle to being bashed but bolt the tool in place and use a long bar and maybe some heat

It looks really cool, although not sure I could stay perched on your saddle! Did you measure your chainline? It looks a bit out in that last photo (although could just be an illusion). I also suspect you will find that you need a tensioner (as I did!).

I have ordered an on one doofer tentioner.

The saddle "feels" quite flat to sit on, to me anyway.

No didn't measure the chain line but it is as close to straight as I could get with the spacers in the kit.

Just noticed I need to remove the reflector off the front wheel
