Having had a log eats mech eats wheel spits rider episode last week. I've replaced my old lx mech with a M662 shadow slx one.
I've taken Mr. Shimanos instructions and made what I think are all the right adjustments on the stop screws, taken up the slack in the cable etc. In the dismount, my second time out new cassette ( sram 970) lost a tooth off the 11t sprocket, so I've put the one off the old cassette ( sram 950 ?) on instead, it looks identical and appears hardly worn, unlike some of the others. But. I'm getting what feels to be chain slip on the smallest gear, irrespective of what ring I'm in up front. I'm getting hacked off now as I cant see what I may have set-up wrongly or am fettling without reason. Cable adjustment ? Mech alignment ? Any ideas please people ?
Bent hanger?
Wear on smaller sprockets is hard to spot IME.
Sounds like new chain-old sprocket incompatibility if all the other rings on the cassette are ok.
Sorry folks ! The mech hanger was also trashed in the forest ! Correct new one fitted, frame scraped slightly but not bent.
I'm kinda thinking the small sprocket just may be the culprit, but it really doesn't look badly worn.
Until I can see if I can get a new 11t for the new one, any real reason not to try the one with the missing tooth ? After all it is off the "new" sprocket. Jeez I'm confusing me too now !
