You’ll be lucky.

Chinese carbon for that price, or buy a bike and sell the bits.

If you want new as said Chinese carbon.
But if you bought this and sold all the bits how much would the frame end up costing you ? Probably still a fair bit more than £1000.

So what does £1200 get you?

Yup sadly getting a reasonable priced xc frame only is a bit of thing of the past.
I know it's not light weight but there are often some good deals on Kona hei hei's. I got a last year's alloy one for £1200 for the full bike. It's not light but reasonable and doesn't feel heavy to ride. Handles very nicely and the position is spot on for me, which obviously a personal thing. Also last year's fuel of sparks would be a good punt.

Someone is struggling to sell a new anthem frame in the classifieds might be worth a cheeky offer.
I really like my one.

The 2015 Santa Cruz Tallboy 2 Carbon CC frame I have for sale at £975? I've had it listed for a little while now so don't even care about shameless plugs anymore...! ;-D

Just had a quick look and it does seem impossible to find a sensibly priced full suss xc frame. Might get a reasonable trail frame for the money, or enduro.

Not sure if a Look 947 is an xc frame - merlin have one for under £1k?

Other than that I found a Transition scout for about £1k. Nice frame.

€700 for a carbon XC race frame. You’ll need to source your own shock and hardware

(Other cube frame options on that site)

If weight isn't am issue then I'm sure you could find a brand new anthem frame for around that price. Or second hand for far cheaper.

Great bikes.

I'd tread carefully going as cheap as possible. My mate got one of those bargain carbon Titus frames a few years back and it never seemed to be 'right'. It wasn't terrible but just didn't seem to do anything particularly well.

If you are on a strict budget just get a better aluminium frame.

With a shock is In your price range - only limited sizes and not my favourite though.

S/H old model Anthem 29 in alloy.
Good weight for alloy.
Capable all day bike as well.
Go quite cheap on the classifieds.
Think I sold my frameset for about 400 quid.
Thanks,
Max

I've only just finally sorted out my S/H alloy FS frame build which is pretty good, so I'm not looking to buy anything. Just curious as to how much it would cost to upgrade in however many years' time.
