[Closed] Fast semi slick but with more aggressive shoulder tread?

[#11937946]

I've gravelised my Superfly as much as I can for those rides when the descents are just too long or lumpy to enjoy on the gravel bike.

It's mostly brilliant but the tyres (2.1" Terrenos) are somehow less grippy and less confidence inspiring than their 38mm equivalents on my actual gravel bike, I have a theory that the extra volume and carcass actually means they float over the marbley stuff instead of cutting through it (a bit like the skinny vs. fat mud tyre debate except relating only to shoulder tread).

So, is there a light, supply semi-slick with more of an eye towards cornering e.g. taller shoulder knobs that I could put on the front?

I saw the Maxxis Ikon which looked good but it seemed a bit of a tougher construction, fewer TPI anyway.

Vittoria Peyote would be a reasonable match but only available in grey TNT sidewall which wouldn't match the tan TLR sidewall on the rear Terreno... 🙄

Schwalbe Rock Razor, I can't say I've ever thought of using it on the front but I've found the supergravity soft to be a good rear option, surprisingly grippy for a semi slick. Not sure if they do it in the lighter casing but it's defo worth looking into

Yeah, that Rekon looks good although I don't see 120TPI mentioned anywhere?

pothead, you recommended exactly what I asked for so thanks, but I think the Schwalbe looks a bit *too* hardcore, I'm just looking for something that can hold a line on fast gravel tracks and landy tracks, that looks more like a DH tyre for dry tracks!

The two I have are 120tpi.

Sounds like you need a Mezcal tan wall?
