Saw Paxman about 3 yrs ago on the track between Turville Park Farm and Whitepond Farm and said hi / excuse me and then saw him at almost exactly the same spot a few weeks ago and I only go to the Chilterns about 3x a year. Must live nearby and makes sense as is v posh and dead handy for White City or Portland Place where he works. I really love Newsnight so would love to caht with him but guess its not what he wants!

Spotted Greg Davies (Tall comedian from the Inbetweeners) in Barnes the other day on a pub ride.

Does Mike Edwards, of Jesus Jones fame, count?

Saw Nicholas Crane in Totnes on my commute last Monday.

I thought that he looked rather gormless, although the karma came back to bite my ass, as I was made redundant later that day.

Nick's fault.

Was in a curry house in Sparkhill Birmingham years ago waiting for takeout when in walks Missy Giove and some of the guys from MBUK! Apparently they had hired out the top half of the restaurant. It was when one of the bike shows was on at the NEC.

I was in the CwmCarn car park and the whole of the Animal trials team turned up (Martyn Ashton 'n' all).

Does having lunch at the table next to Darcy Turenne in the GLC at the bottom of Whistler bike park count?

How about being overtaken by Andrew Shandro in the aforementioned Bike Park?

I've seen a couple of MBR journos riding around Surrey Hills before.
Kevin from Corrie driving through Altrincham a couple of weeks ago, coming back from a road ride.
Oh, and the Queen, driving towards Kingston. That was a road ride too.
Do I win a medal for that?

Many folk off here have met me on bike rides. 🙂

And I live in That London's Famous London, so many famous people have seen me out on my bike.

The only media figure I have seen actually on a bike themselves was Sophie Raworth off the news. She looked really lovely I have to say, nicer than on the telly. And she smiled at me although it might have been a grimace or maybe she was constipated I don't know. I was happy.

[img] [/img]

I sold a bike to Human rights Campaigner Peter Tatchell once.

was commuting about a month ago and saw Tony Robinson pushing a sword through a victim's chest on Cable Street, East London. Shouted out 'orrigght Toneee' and he nodded sheepishly.

Monday night on the commute again and I saw Hardeep Singh being filmed in Narrow Street, again in East London. Couldn't remember his name so I didn't say anything...

Michael Schumacher was staying on a Loch Ness campsite in 1996 when I stopped over on cycle tour. Saw Billy Connelly strolling on North Down Coastal path as I blezzed past. Saw Sir Patrick Mayhew (Tory cabinet member) with family and minders at Fofanny dam in the Mournes.

Wouldn't talk to anyone 'famous' when I cross them, why would you. I don't like strangers talking to me, they must have a lot of them to deal with.

In the same way I'd talk to "anyone". It's interesting to talk to people, and sometimes it's polite to do so as well!

MTB-Idle; Sir Ian McKellen gave me a right dirty look in Narrow Street once. 😀

Wouldn't talk to anyone 'famous' when I cross them, why would you.

Pends on the situation dunnit? I'm not bothered at all by 'celebrity', but I'll chat to anyone. Had a chat with some bloke outside a nightclub in Amsterdam once, offered him a toke on me spliff, turns out he was one of Cypress Hill. Asked some bloke for directions in Richmond Park once, rode of thinking 'where have I seen him before?', turns out it was actor John Hannah. Actor Josie Lawrence was sitting at the next table to me and me mum, with some of here friends, my mum starts chatting to her without a clue who she was (she ain't got a telly, has she?). She was very nice. One of her friends was a mardy-faced cah though.

a couple of years ago, we took Faisal Islam (channel 4 news' economics correspondent) to lee quarry. it was quite funny, first time he'd been on a bike in about 12 years! he was at school with a mate of mine and had been home at his parents' house for that weekend...
i quite often see damon gough (aka badly drawn boy) whilst riding in binners' playground, the mersey valley/chorlton water park type area.

No it's true he did! He lives there, between the Grapes and Bootys.

I don't ride there regularly, but I live locally.

Come to think of it I think I may have seen Political Editor Nick Robinson on a bike near Highbury once.

Was nearly run over by Princess Di many years ago, when I jumped a red pedestrian light riding on the pavement in East London .

I had wondered what the police bikes were doing stopped in the middle of the road, but hadn't really thought it through.

HRH Charlie narrowly avoiding me while opposite-locking his old Aston on the corner by the statue of George III before he straightened up and gunned it towards Windsor Castle.

Back in about 1990 and I was lugging my shopping up the hill on a (seemingly) 100lb Dawes.

Louis Theroux (?) outside shop in Peaslake on north downs a few years ago, he was biking with two mates. Also nearly knocked over 'tinker' from lovejoy whilst riding through Brighton as he stepped out in front of me going down west street.

the athertons overtook me on the mega qualifier a few years ago

at the time i was riding at the maximum possible speed physics would allow for a mountainbike on a dh course, till all 3 of them cruised past me - making it seem like i was at walking pace

used to overtake adrian chiles at hammersmith as he cycled to work at the bbc most days

once cycled past jodie marsh and an equally ample friend of hers on euston road they were in a topless sports car for maximum visibility

Riding in the opposite direction of Oliver Letwin MP on Bulbarrow Hill the other week. He looked more red and puffed out than on TV. He begrudgingly acknowledged me a fellow pedaler (obviously forgetting I was also a potential voter (maybe)) after a cheery 'good afternoon'. 🙂

Riding through Richmond Park on the commute, down from Pembroke Lodge to the roundabout at Richmond Gate, as its a 90 degree + right hander signal well in advance, rather than take corner one-handed.

As enter roundabout pimp Range Rover coming up rather sharpish slams the brakes on, then gives a quick blast of the horn.

Having formed a stereotype of the driver, turn round and indicate my displeasure and make a gesture suggesting I would like to discuss the matter further.

Pulls up alongside and winds down window - Lawrence Dallagio. My cojones disappeared quicker than you can say 'Mutha Hucka' 😆

"Oh it's you" I say. Regaining my composure I politely suggest that as he is now a keen roady he should not expect people to go round roundabouts one-handed. A line of reasoning he accepts in gentlemanly fashion.

Good job his little girl was in the front seat or I would have given him a right kicking 😉

I've taken Jude Law out for a ride if that counts - didn't tell other riding mates who I was bringing for added amusement watching them work out how to handle the situation.

Daniel Day Lewis if not - or maybe he wins in the cool stakes out of the two anyway.

Ah yes Mr Dallagio, bumped into him in Ax Les Thermes in the Pyrenees a few years ago, me and mates sitting outside bar covered in trail sh1te after riding down from the mountains and he walked in with a couple of other rugby players, saw him the next morning riding out of Ax up the Col de Choula (?), he's friggin huge, felt sorry for his poor bike.

Nearly ran over Charlie George (Arsenal player in the early 70's) outside the Emirates.

I've seen Boris on a bike, but living in Islington that's not really a claim to fame.

Not exactly famous but know in the mountian biking world; booked myself on a heli-biking trip in New Zealand and one of the other guys on the trip that day was Chris Ball.

Has anyone met Mark Webber out on his bike? I'm sure I read he goes to Aston Hill sometimes.

4-ish years ago, saw Hans Rey in Cannock Chase Car Park. It was pissing down and about to close, he was looking at the noticeboard trying to figure out where the campsite was. I knew it was him because of the sticker-bedecked camper van!
