If you like the type of riding you get up in the Scottish Highlands, then you'll like this and if you like epic Norwegian fjord and mountain scenery then you'll love this. If you like steel bikes, you'll like this and if you like trail doggos then you'll love this!
Back in May I think it was, we emailed Ben to say 'hey, can you come and give Klara a couple of days skills coaching in exchange for us showing you around some trails in the area?' to which he replied yes. Then he got famous! You might have seen some of his DH world cup coverage this year which has gained him quite a following, so by the time he came to visit we realised we were welcoming a bit of a celebrity in the mountain bike world.
By that time he has also upped his video producing game and was super keen to put together a video from the trip, especially since he has just got a few new gadgets, a new drone and 360 degree pole cam thingy. Anyway, he ended up making a proper fancy 20min video! Spot us and Nora doggo at the beginning! Fame at last!
Brilliant, how do you get a video to embed? I've done as it says to do on the 'forum help' page!
Otherwise here is a link to it for now, that one I know the shortcode works

Also, where has the preview button for posts gone? That way I might have been able to test it works first but it seems to have disappeared recently...
Edit. Too late, as above 🤘
I watched that the other day when it first appeared. Stunning scenery & some brilliantly shot footage. Really enjoyed it.
Thank you! But for next time how do I do it?
Fantastic! Good on you mate, and Nora 🙂
Nice vid.
The trails at 2.40 onwards are uncannily similar to my local trails in the Highlands.
Watched it the other day, looks amazing. Norway is an amazing country, always regret not ski touring in the lofoten Alps pre kids when it was more doable.
Out of curiosity are there other places to stay and if so would I be able to tack on a day or so of guided riding (slotting into a group) into a week out there with my family? Asking re other places to stay as I'm assuming you wouldn't want non bikers clogging up your accommodation.
Where in Scotland are you Bedmaker?
Nice!
I'm hoping that sometimes it's a bit drier though?
Very Highlands-esq.
The slow motion OTB is exactly how I roll 🙂
Anus - I'm near Inverness. The trails look really similar to my most local ones at Contin.
Most famous for the Strathpuffer, but there's lots of singletrack among the forest.
Yes it does stay dry sometimes haha! He came over 'post-season' I suppose and there was the tail end of a storm coming through.
Bedmaker, i've never ridden up there despite having lived in Aberdeen for a 3 years for uni! The kind of stuff you pointed to in the video is so nice and we're currently on the hunt for more of the same, spotted some good stuff towards the end of the season that we'll have to try out once the snow has cleared. Most of the trails here aren't quite suited for bikes so need a little clearing/digging/rock moving to make then good for riding so once we need to go back and fix them up a little first! Watch out for more videos of that next year 😉
I thought Ben Cathro was a munro in Scotland!
I keep an eye cathros you tube channel all the time on the lookout for fresh uploads. Such good content!
Watched that vid the other day and was impressed by the location. Looks like you have a perfect landscape for a very large network of trails👍
I thought Ben Cathro was a munro in Scotland!
Yeah. Wait. What?
Who IS Ben Cathro?
To be honest you're not far off! He's almost tall enough to be a munro, giant of a man.
Cathro is a funny Scotsman who does commentary on the world cups and also has his own coaching business, he's an ex world cuo racer himself.
He also makes rather entertaining videos of all things mountain bime these days. For example he made a 14 minute video about organising his tool box the other week so i think it would be right up you lot's street 😉
You just need to post the video URL into thread, don't add any formatting. Works automatically 🙂
Looks epic.
watched it when it came out, looks ace fun. 🙂
That looks magic!
