Been riding a bike of one sort or anouther for as long as i can remember, but after having my new Cannondale Synaps stolen when away in fort william realy put me on a downer ,plus i just cant handle the weather any more this week has been unbelivable chuffing May and all we get is gale force winds and heavy rain it has has been like this fot nearly nine months now My riding time is limited down to the usual job kids stuff . Realy thinking of calling it a day. This was going to be a rant but i dont even have the will to do that any more.
Keep going, one good ride, downhill, jump you'll be loving it again. As for the weather i quite enjoy the wind and rain adds a bit of atmosphere, are you a southerner by chance
Sorry, the weather where ?? Take a look here and point to the bad bits. Sure we get crap sometimes, but if you face a choice between sitting on your arse in the comfy dry or riding in poor conditions, I choose RIDE every time :o)
on second thoughts you could always get an exercise bike?
Have a complete break from it for a month. Come June you'll be raring to go again!
There's always the spendy method. Buy a flashy new bike & you'll feel obliged to go out & ride it. Has worked for me before.
I think the weather's been pretty good since the end of last summer ❓
Do it. Jack it in. If you're not enjoying it you won't regret it. I did exactly that in about 1996, went BMXing for a couple of years, then onto motorbikes, then MTBs again 4-5 years ago. Don't matter what antone says, what's the point if you're not having fun?
I have to agree, though, that one good ride will get you back into it again. Or I found splashing some cash on a new part got me back out there, if only to justify spunking that much money on it...
Just ride when you want to.
I haven't ridden regularly for the best part of a year now, and just go out when I feel like it now and I enjoy it a lot more when I do.
Leave the bikes for now, start fishing. Seriously. Or play bingo/football/cricket. As and when you're ready, ride again. Remember, even the hottest chick gets boring after some time 😉
I just came back to riding after nearly 10 years off, I was totally sick of it when I stopped, fed up of bad weather and constantly fixing parts and injuries and nowhere new to ride. I'm glad I stopped when I did, you can really kill your love for something if you push too hard.
But, I wouldn't just stop, try and pick your riding better for a while- less riding but better. Dry days, spot on sorted bikes, good company. Just pick the best. The weather really hasn't been bad, this has been one of the drier winters for years, I've been loving it personally! But laregely by avoiding the bad days. That's why I'm on the computer now not on the bike!
do one of these

Weather has been pretty good up here for a while. My last ride was really wet and windy, and made me realise I hadn't been on a ride in that weather for months, despite going out twice a week.
Not that I know you at all but it sounds like maybe there are other things getting you down apart from just riding. Riding should be an escape from those things though.
Speaking as someone who is out apparently till mid July (well that's what the doc said on Tuesday) I'm more itching to rude than I am normally , i guess it;s the forbidden fruit thing. So maybe an a break may be what you need people get stale with stuff, or maybe try some other kind off riding you don't nomally do ? Go Jumping if you don't or do an uplift day, ride a fixie something! ;]
Matt
Lost mine of late, due to my fitness slipping and my riding mates getting fitter.
Have felt like I've been dragging an anchor round riding my 34lb '06 Enduro of late, so am selling that and my hardtail to help fund £2700's worth of self build 28lb S-Works Enduro SL. Just need to lose around 14lbs from my gut now.
Stop riding? Never.
I had 3 years off with health/house extension issues. Started back about 12 months ago, enjoying it more than ever and have reached a reasonable level of fitness.Never let a bit of rain put you off.
Having said thay if you're not enjoying it,have a break,go fishing...or something else.
I was totally sick of it when I stopped, fed up of bad weather and constantly fixing parts and injuries and nowhere new to ride
living in the sarf? I don't blame you in that case - but on the other hand if you get fed up of riding here oop north then you're not trying hard enough...
