Going for the same size ring (32) with an absolute black oval ring. I'll be putting on a new chain anyway, but do I need to consider a different length?

If we assume the chainwrap is always about 50% of the circumference then it's the same length needed as when the chain is on the wider bit it is also on the narrower bit. If it was 25% or 75% then you would set it for the worse case which might be different to a round one but it should be about the same. Still want to check the chain length properly though as it may not have been right.
