Does anyone run a toro mk9 for night riding, and what do you think to it? I've currently got a diablo on my helmet paired with a amazon light on the bars. Most searches say to buy the Maxx-D, however, I've been offered a torro for a good price. I'd be using it for riding local trails more than xc.

I've got one - I find it ok in the dark with a joystick on my helmet. It's quite focused forward, so that might be an issue for you (there's a comparison tool on the exposure site if you think it could be).

The reflex feature is good.

i have a Toro, also have the original 6pack, found the Toro more than sufficient for night use when coupled with a good headlight, plus the battery life is great and useful being able to select power modes. the smaller size is also handy if you're a weight weenie like me

Got a toro + diablo and for me its the sweet spot of size/run time/cost/brightness

My night rides are rarely over 3 hours and if they are not I can eek it out by switching between hi/lo. The time remaining display is good for this. I do have a feeling that the reflex mode kicks in more if you are riding rigid and that shortens the ride time (but it might be my imagination).

Charge time does take aaaages - around 8 hours - annoying if you forget

Mk6 Toro user here. Coupled with a Diablo head mounted light it gives all the light I really need.

Cheers guys. I went overkill after I found a 6 pack mk8 for £250. Don't tell the girlfriend 😂

Got an older MaxxD, borrowed a new Toro recently and was fine, the two together got me through Relentless last year, how much dark is that, 12hrs? Used the MaxxD, put it on charge in the van whilst I used the Toro then back to the MaxxD when the Toro ran out. Absolute power of the Toro is good, beam spread not as good as the MaxxD

Just got a Six Pack, one before the current one, off eBay for £200 in mint condition. Cheaper than a new Toro, if you don't mind second hand they are out there for cheap(ish). More power, better beam spread, better battery life but heavier.

Did LDLR on the SixPack alone, that and the MaxxD should be plenty for Relentless this year, charging as above.

I carry a Joystick on my helmet just in case but never needed it so far.

Anyway, to answer the OP's question, Toro is good but for same money I'd prefer a second hand SixPack.

Too slow. The OP has taken my advice before he's even read it!

Cheers. You've made me happy about my decision though.

I though £250 for a brand new lasted model 6 pack was a decent deal.
