Cheers

Both ace! alu have removable stickers while the carbon is laquered on. Alu as good as my bonty ones without a doubt.

Thanks.

I am right in assuming they are from the same "factory"? and in fact the same product as the Bontys?

They are most certainly made at the same factory in the far east as other, more overtly marketed / branded ones...

Just have a quick look on eBay as they have their own shop, but when I got my alu ones (for my winter on-road, rigid mtb) they were cheaper in their own web shop - they seem to have different deals on from time to time. They seem fine, though I've not really used them much in anger yet.

Have looked at both the ebay shop and direct. About a £1 difference in price for the Alu ones.

Haven't cross-checked the carbon.

Thanks

Any specific issues I should be aware of, if going for the carbon, i,e. damage due to over tightening caliper bolts, etc

I’ve just got the carbon one’s – these seem pretty good although only had chance to run them up the canal tow path (mind it was 40km worth) - I believe they are identical to the white industries & Bonti ones – hopefully can’t go wrong with carbon forks for less then £100

465mm ones? I presume for 29"er? I would work on a 26"er as unlike the on-one 29"er fork I don't think they have the 'proper' rake for a 26"er, just that they'll be a touch slack. 440/445mm is generally used to suspension correct at sag position a 100mm 26"er fork

Am intending to use them instead of a Talas 125 on a 26er.

That has crown axle of 490. Thus allowing for 25% sag, I reckon I need something around 460 ish.

I like to run my bikes quite slack, so thought 440mm would be a bit low.

The carbon cycles website says the 465mm is equivalent to a 130mm suspension fork, so that all seems to stack up.

I have a 26" carbon one - seems fine but how would you really know unless/until it fails?

disc mount is metal bonded to the leg

Cheers for replies.

My worry with carbon is that unless you have serious delamination, you never really know whether it is damaged or not.

But then again you could just as easily have an underlying internal weakness in a alu or steel fork and not know.

Am tempted to go for the Carbon.
