North Africa for one...
Bit slim on details and raises as many questions as it answers, but an interesting read nonetheless.
That is interesting!! I'm guessingvthe b8kez weren't recovered tho, otherwise they would have said, which is a shame!!
Does that mean there are secret epic trails running the whole continent, where groups of unlikely trail slayers are enjoying all the high end carbon Enduro gnarpoons that keep going missing? All designed, sculpted and maintained by the new owners?
I'd imagine getting the Moroccan police involved based on a tip off from random Dutch blokes with what is probably an illegal tracker in Morocco might not be that easy. Then it's entirely possible they'd have faked docs proving they'd bought the bikes in Europe all fair and square.
If they filmed a warehouse full of stolen bikes why didn't they include a few stills in their report?????
I think this story is fairly suspect. No way does a bike startup have the resources to send teams across the globe hunting down pushbikes. It would be cheaper to just give them a new bike!
"Play it, Sram - play as Time pedals go by"

They've probably only done the one trip, and will surely get their money's worth in publicity.
I bet most of us had never heard of them before.
When I was living&working in Morocco ~15years ago I was in the arse end of nowhere well off the beaten track and driving along I saw a kid at the side of the road on a mint condition MK1 Raleigh Chopper! I spun round and tried buying it off the kid to no avail. Always wondered how he ended up with it.
The stolen bike thing must be new - I was all over Casablanca for 3 years in some of the dodgy areas and in and out of the ports and probably only saw 1 or 2 decent bikes that belonged to obviously affluent locals.
They've put their video of the trip on Facebook:ย (prays this works...)
If it doesn't just google Vanmoof Morocco video and it'll be the top hit.
Do you think they are exaggerating and the 'warehouse packed full of bikes to the rafters' is actually a small store room?ย It can't be a very profitable enterprise if someone is buying all these bikes and not selling them.
I think the UK scally approach of steal it, dump it behind a hedge and then sell it a day later without it ever crossing their doorstep is more the current trend...
I'm sure you've seen a Van Moof, they're pretty distinctive.
the flea market in Bucarest. huge pile there anyway. seems to be largerly from Denmark/N. germany
annyoingly, they wanted proper money for them!
Yes I KNOW I've told this story before on here but a couple of years ago on a flight to Belgrade the Serb lad next to me noticed my bike mag and we got chatting. After a while he started boasting about his pal in Novi Sad, near the Hungarian border, who makes a nice living out of selling top-end bikes stolen in the UK and shipped over in containers. When he saw my expression he suddenly clammed up.
