I've recently been informed that as a company we are signed up to Evans' ride2work scheme, so I thought "excellent! I'll indulge myself with another new bike!" Problem is they've sold out of the bikes I'd narrowed my choices down to in the size I need. This is very annoying as I don't really want to wait until the 2013 models come out as I need the bike for commuting purposes.... SO my question is: Is the Evans scheme unique to Evans, or is it acting as an agent for the government scheme? Can I sign the company up to another scheme instead/as well?

Also if anyone knows when the 2013 Genesis bikes are being released, this will also help my decision!!

I've been looking into this. It looks like your company have signed up to a deal with Evans who will run the scheme and fill in all the forms etc thereby getting all the business. There are various other ways of doing this. Your company could buy you a bike and you could salary sacrifice to pay it off. Advantages are same as other schemes in that it reduces you NI as well as their's. Your company would have to set this up but the forms are pretty simple. Cyclescheme.co.uk run a similar scheme to Evans but it broadens the choice of shops and therefore bikes.
I run a small company and thought i might be able to get a new bike but for tax reasons I'm on min wage and if salary sacrifce takes you under this you cant do it. Hope this helps....lots of pretty straight forward info out there in www. land

you could buy through your company (biek as company asset), and then use it and pay tax on the benefit provided by the company that would stop the issue of going under min wage?

I've just got a Genesis Croix De Fer from Evans on the Cycle2work scheme about a fortnight ago.

Was told that they were out of stock, and that it would take 14 days to come from Genesis, it only took 4 days in the end, may be worth asking if they can get them direct from Genesis even if their stock levels show they have none?

You can use Edinburgh Bicycle Coop who accept the Evans 'Ride 2 Work' voucher
