I have a week’s holiday booked for the second week in June, and was thinking of possibly going riding in the Alps or somewhere similar. Having never rode off road in the alps am looking for a destination where there is good cross country trails, and not just uplift downhill runs that you need a long travel bike to ride.
My Doris will probably be coming along too, and although she is quite competent I don’t want anything insanely technical.
Any recommendations of resorts that have good long cross country rides, where I won’t need a guide.
2nd week in June is quite early in the season. If you want chairlift uplift, I think your only option in the French Alps would be Morzine/Les Gets.
We're open that week, running vehicle uplift for our guided riding if that's of interest. Definitely flowy singletrack riding rather than DH - The White Room
'cross country trails'
Hmmm. Your best bet is South of France/North of Nice. Most towns have marked FCC VTT trails and they are fantastic!
Sospel/Peille for a starter.
you in Dumfries this weekend RHS?
I can second Sospel if you're not fussed about lifts... went there last October, really really nice.
Or Morzine if you want some lifts (not all are open then), but also the choice to climb for some big mountain rewards!
Something for both you and Doris here and the weather is completely splendid 8)
Sorry. Shameless plug over 😳
OOps, just realised you said you don't want a guide.
Oh well.
