Looking at reviews the current MT has lost some of its waterproofness following more environmentally friendly manufacturing 🙄 now they’ve got a gravel version 🙄😞 that seems to be as good if you believe the reviews but it’s a heck of a lot cheaper ! So can anybody tell the difference? I don’t really want to pay the eye watering price for the MT after all they are probably all churned out in the same Chinese factory 🙄
Or forget Endura and get the Gore C5 Trail for under £150 ? MBR rated the Pace 3 x 3 made with eVent material and the added bonus it doesn’t have a hood ! Praise the lord ! Unfortunately that doesn’t seem to exist anymore like the Madison DTE .

The specs for the new exoshell say it is more waterproof but less breathable. I've got both and haven't had any issue with waterproofness. I haven't be caught in torrential rain with the 40 so can't compare it to the extreme with the 60. I've been wearing my 40 on the road bike.

The fit of the endura isn't great though so you might find the fit of the C5 better.

The one thing I dislike about the newer 40 jacket is the hood doesn't roll up and get tied up out the way.

I have them both, I’d say the MT500 is more of a put on pre ride and keep on throughout. The GV is a bit more packable, though nowhere near as small when packed as an MTR shell.

The GV seems to have replaced the MTR Shell, shame as it's a good compact just in case waterproof.

I was swaying between the MT500 and the Leatt 5.0.

Put off by what I've read about the short lived waterproofness of the MT500, I've just ordered the Leatt - 30k/30k for shrugging water/breathability, so I'll report back this weekend

I've just ordered a TLD Descent, it's only 10K/10K so might be found wanting though I don't normally head out in torrential rain? 🤔🙄

Well, I CANNOT recommend the Leatt. It's going straight back

I'm medium/large in most things, so ordered a large. It's a similar size to a medium Endura (which reviews say are on the small side anyway).

The fit (maybe because it's too small?) has strange bulge in the zip by the sternum, makes me look like I've got a growth.

The magnets to keep the hood in place are a nice idea, but when the hood is down and held in place, it just looks really odd - flat, but flared out at each side.

Again, maybe the sizing, but the hood would only go half way over the top of both my Bell and Fox helmets, this doesn't look like a problem in the promotional videos.

The material is nice though, almost a canvas feel to it

Overall though, not enough going for it for me to go through the hassle of ordering an XL.

Looks like MT500 and a can of re-proofer it is then

if you can pull off the electric blue mt500 colour then its £97.20 code EXTRA10 on CRC.
friends have the MTR shell jacket, really small and packable,

are you looking for a jacket to set off in or one as backup to put on midride?

i got the gore c5 infinium (softshell/GTX) great jacket, the one singletrackMark had.

Not for me, I'm afraid, but thanks

I wish the MTR was still available. Mine crapped itself on the zip - used a little too much force not realising it was jammed and ripped the material 🙁

Otherwise it was perfect.
