Bought a long sleeve base layer endura baabaa merino top from my LBS on sat, advised tight fit is good, went for a ride on sun in snow, worked up a good sweat so washed it sun afternoon at 30 degrees, label states 40, imagine my surprise at the crop top that came out !! rang the LBS today and was advised that they do shrink in the wash but can be pulled back in shape, i've tried that but it's nowhere near the size it was when i tried it on in the shop, anyone had similar probs before i call the shop again ?

Sorry to hear that.

I had the same issue with Endura merino wool, packaged it up, sent it back to Wiggle, received a replacement without issue, sold replacement, never been near Endura again.

Likewise, my l/s Baabaa is well into it's second winter and often used as a single layer autumn / spring. Must have had 30 washes now, zero problem.

I've had some Icebreaker gear for a few years now and it washes very well, always air dry it. Did you tumble dry it ?

I'm somewhat of the mind that if you buy cheap merino you are not going to getthe same quality. I've got lots of Endura gear (non merino admitedly) and it's all been excellent.

I have Endura/Altura merino (Same thing) as well as all sorts of Smartwool and IceBreaker stuff. No major shrinkage on any of it. As above, a little smaller after a wash, but soon fits out again.

ditto long sleeve baa baa top just pull it back into shape. I have had an issue with a washing machine that the water heating stat was faulty on and caused a lot of shrinkage problems.
I actually find the Endura BaaBaa top coarse in comparison to my much loved Howies zip front merino layer that they stopped making a few years back and they only do it now in ladies.
If I could have afforded another Howies I would get one but just make do with darning up the holes in my existing one and saving the BaaBaa for other days. The other benefit with Howies is that they can be tumbled with no shrinkage.
