[#3650269]

I need a rack for my tourer which is an old (1991!) Kona Lavadome.

What would folks suggest? I didn't have heaps of heel clearance with the last one so something that sits fairly far back would be ideal.

It's for fully loaded camping touring so something fairly beefy.

Cheers

Tubus are the best I have seen but at t significant price. I have bust several cheap ones but the tubus is strong and rigid and not heavy.

Cool. I was looking at tubus.

Have you had any experience with sizing issues using them on an old mtb frame?

I've got a Tubus Cargo on a 26" Surly LHT which is basically like an old rigid steel MTB - fits perfectly.

If you have heel clearance issues, you can use front panniers on the rear. Its a good way to make sure you don't carry excessive amounts of kit anyway.

The tubus can be mounted a long way back - all sorts of mounting kits available. No issues on my old 'dale tandem which is a small MTB frame in effect

This might sound a bit stupid but those of you running Tubus Cargo's on 26" wheel bikes, is it the 26" model you have?

I ask as for whatever reason I had issues fitting a blackburn 26" rack to the kona in the past.
