My Elite Direto X trainer shit itself on Friday and sounds like a bag of hammers. Bought September 20 so little hope of any warranty. I contacted Elite who responded quickly and told me to remove a cover and then run a process from the app.. however, the part of the app is meant to be free (Trainings > Level mode) but when I click on it, it’s says I need to buy sub.. tried removing and reinstalling app, signing out/in, etc. but nee joy. It even says “free” on the **** button but it isn’t! No response over weekend from elite on this issue. I’m loathed to buy a sub just to conclude the turbo is goosed. Anyone had this with the Elite app?
Thanks
Level mode is free on mine (Android). Maybe uninstall and reinstall the app?
Sorry, don't read your post properly, you already did that. Maybe try someone else's phone?
Paying for the app so you can ID the problem cheaper than a hissy fit and buying a new trainer
did you ever register your purchase on the app - maybe it's only free for registered users ?
Thanks for the replies all. I think I’ve managed to capture enough of the issue on video without the need for the app. On start up, a motor with a long thread should move a magnet housing left and right through its full range of motion. The levels bit of functionality in the app should then move this incrementally which is what Elite wanted a video of. However, mine doesn’t even do the first bit.. it looks like the magnet housing has come off the thread completely and is now rattling around near the flywheel somewhere. Proper **** ed

Also there is an elite direto Facebook group that are pretty helpful
Thanks Paul. I’ll give them a buzz if I hit a brick wall with Elite.
I had the same issue and the fix described in this link fixed mine, did it last week.

Basically removed the four screws and apply some fresh grease to the thread (specifically the magnet end not the motor end)
Level Mode is free on the Elite Mytraining App, Select Trainings (Top Level) then Level Mode, then preset the filter button near the bottom and you get a slider that goes from 1-16 - This will move the magnet back and forwards, once you have cleaned and re-greased it, it will then move fine).
Don't worry. Just do what they say. They get you to fix at home in the first place even under warranty anyway.
There's only a set number of fixes for mechanical faults, all are documented, they'll narrow it down through a couple of emails and videos (maybe they already have). Basically, it might take time, they might ask you to get surprisingly hands-on, they aren't fobbing you off.
Not so fast with the toys / pram OP!
My elite direto went into really noisy mode with random power spikes at 4 years old. Elite responded promptly to my email and video with a ‘how to fix it’ video that involved bike level spannering and some engineering superglue. Result is a fixed turbo, minimal cost and a happy user.
<<<UPDATE>>>
Thank you for the responses all. Seems like I did eject the toys from the pram a bit prematurely.. After a lot of back and forth with Elite (mainly on how to send them a large video attachment) they sent me a fix procedure which was successful and I'm back up and running.
They give me a sub code so I could access the bit of the app I needed and it was then a case of cleaning the thread and getting the magnet housing moving again. There is evidence of thread damage and the two magnets in the housing have definitely had a chat with the flywheel and look to have some cosmetic damage so not sure how long the fix will last. Will report this back to Elite and see what they say.
Thanks again
