Hi,
As above, looking for advice from the STW hive..
Potentially looking at bike purchase on eBay, seller has indicated they will be happy to ship, providing I do all the leg work/ cover the cost.
So my question is: is there an easy way to do this, set up pick-up & delivery, seems easy, but what about provision of suitable packing, etc ?
Any experiences ?
Cheers
Couple of options:
1. buy a bike bag (if you want one anyway) and get it delivered to the seller.
2. As the seller if they would mind getting a bike box from a shop and wrapping it all up. May have to pay them for tape etc.
4. Post them a bike box and a roll of tape.
Then arrange a courier and send the labels to the seller.
Problem with couriers is the seller will have to be at home all day (or take it to work etc). Some couriers will provide labels, most want them to be on already.
Forget it and buy a bike more local than you can pick up or see if there is a friend/family near by.
Paisley freight £21 door to door.
I've shipped two bikes with no problems.
Ring around respectable bike shops local to the seller and see if you can contract their services (and their discount courier rate). Then youknow it [should] be well packed?
get them to box it up, weigh it, then use parcel2go
tbh If it's a fair bit of cash, I'd go collect it - just to make sure its exactly as advertised.
+1 for paisley freight.
Shipped a couple of bikes with them with zero hassle.
Depending on distance I'd +1 collection or see if the seller will meet up at some point along the route.
You can a) check the bike out and avoid any complications later and b) save any hassle of sorting out the courier etc.
Cheers

Get seller to get a free bike box from any bike shop and pack bike up.
Then book a courier through senditnow.com. they even bring their own labels!
i have used them loads and they have always been fine
Thanks all for the advice.
Was thinking through options as posted by Andyl; essentially looking for least amount of hassle to the seller.
Will sound out how receptive they are to packing the bike up nicely.
Distance wise, not worth travelling, bike is for Mrs Alini, so not high end 🙂
most couriors will not pick up a bike unless it has been boxed up properly.....
+2 for paisley freight btw - (although the bike has to be boxed).
Another for Paisley freight here.
And another for Paisley Freight.
Not bike related, but I bought a chop saw of eBay and sent a courier to collect it as the didn't offer postage. Has asked if it was ok before I bid and would they box it.
Turned up with half a bin bag selotaped to it!
Procure a suitable sized bike box & packaging.
Send to seller.
Seller sends to you.
Senditnow.com is £13.
