Recently moved to Somerset and would be keen to start doing some MTB in the area. Does anyone mind a slow newbie tagging along?

Try popping into Ralph Colemans or King's cycles. I think they both still have groups that go out onto the Quantocks.

Ralphies don't have any organised group MTB rides at the moment (that I know of), but knottie's Wednesday evening rides may suit you, I'm sure he'll be along any minute. Otherwise put out a call when you're planning to go out and I'm sure someone will guide you around.

I'm arranging an STW forum outing on the Mendips on 15th Aug. This thread:

Last year about 30 friendly people turned up and we had a splendid day of pootling around fun and varied trails at a sociable pace. I expect the same this year. You would be made very welcome and will get to know some of your new local trails and local riders.

No worries I like exploring bushes for trail secrets
by my reckoning we found two new complete and worthwhile segments and another ripe for development. Sorry I was a bit slow

When you're thinking of going out on the Quantocks, put out a shout, I'm sure someone will give you the guided tour.
