Anyone know why e-bikes don't qualify for subsidies? I see e-motorbikes, and e-mopeds do- why the exclusion of assisted bicycles?
Because they are adding motorised assistance to a human powered vehicle, not removing/replacing fossil fuels from/in a vehicle.
That and cycle to work.
All depends if you drink much petrol or diesel I suppose. I wouldn't recommend drinking it.
Surely the arguments are that a)electric assistance makes it more viable for them to replace a fossil powered vehicle for journeys and b) carbon footprint of an electric bike is a fraction of that of other subsidised transportation.

Nonsense, just ask any e-biker. Their tubby little legs can absolutely pedal quicker than the 15.5mph assistance limiter. 😜
They should at least get a clothing allowance. All the ebikers I see are dressed like polar explorers, must cost them a fortune. It's almost like they're not generating enough heat to keep warm.
