I wondered if anyone on here has experience of using the latest (gen 5) Bosch CX and accompanying app?
I’m looking to get a new e-bike and think I’ve narrowed it down to either a new Spesh Levo or Whyte ELyte Evo. Being a bit of an ‘old skool’ pensioner mountain biker, I use my current eeb (Gen 3 Levo) as a training tool, and I’ve configured the top tube display to show cadence and heart rate - the Spesh app will also show things like rider watts, estimated cals burned etc.
I demoed the Whyte with Gen 5 CX motor and basic top tube display at the weekend (if I was getting one, I’d upgrade the display to the new screen display). Really liked the bike, but when I tried to get heart rate and cadence info on the Bosch app, it looked like that functionality is only available as a subscription option. Could be user error though!
Can anyone with more experience of the app tell me if this info is freely available in the app please.
Hello, we have the Gen 5 whyte elyte evo, we upgraded the screen, and my other half also uses the Flow app on her phone. We don't have heart rate so we can't comment.
Its super simple to use
After some more research, it looks like heart rate can be shown on some of the Kiox displays, but some ride metrics are subscriber only. The main selling point of the subscription seems to be facility to have more detailed maps displayed on new Kiox top tube display - but these look heavily biased toward road riding or Komoot. So, might as well just stick my old Garmin on the bars!
Thanks nwgiles. Do you have the RS model ELyte? This is model I was thinking of getting and upgrading bits on. How have you found the motor - reliable and that?
Yes we have the RS in purple, last years colour. We had whyte e160 before which was good, the controller colours went funny, but was replaced under warranty no questions. Seems ok so far, but the warranty is the important bit.
