Cannondale is of the opinion that one shouldn’t have to choose between trail riding and urban mobility, combining the ability to do both well aboard the new Moterra Neo EQ.

It seems a rather niche area to have full suspension, panniers, mudguards and ebike for commuting and roosting some sweet trails at the weekend...?

For some reason or other that i cant remember, i decided to throw some 32c gator skins on my (non electric) giant trance for a long  (20k) road commute several years ago, and can confirm it was awesome.

Crappy country roads, cobbles and kerbs. Much better than a rigid bike in terms of comfort and efficiency over the rough roads. Fatter tyres like those above and you wouldnt think twice about taking a farm track or single track section home. i'm entirely on board with this concept

I think i would want to have redesigned a frame so that the panniers were suspended, rather than just clunked onto the swing arm like that.

Not sure whether i would want to have to look after suspension on a commuter, myself but if youve got an ebike to maintain, in for a penny, in for a pound.

Same as my Moterra, but with cheaper forks and components, plus panniers and mudguards. "Cannondale Moterra Neo EQ retails at £5,500" Mine was over a grand cheaper!

I did see that model when I bought mine, but didn't see the point in it tbh. I certainly won't be commuting on my ebike - it's a mountain bike for mountains n that.

If you put the seat down and bottom out the suspension, does the pannier not crash into the saddle?

Thats pretty much my Ebike. Scott Genius 920. Full 85mm sks rear mudguard and a thule pack 'n' pedal rack with panniers and rack pack.
The article is from July 2022. I've had my set up a full year before that. Nice to se them catching up with me 😀

My frame has a facility for a rack as it shares the same frame as one of Scott's tour/commuter bikes, but its nigh on impossible to buy the actual rack that fits retail. Hence the strap on one.

I've owned 20+ hardtails over the last 3 decades, this full suss is comfort heaven.

The spec on that cannondale is pretty poor for the money. RS silver,RS shock(not a good one) basic formula wheels and M420 brakes.

Does seem a mad price to pay for a drop in componentry, just add a rack & mudguards, when the Neo 3 can be had for £4300 (Leisure Lakes)

Hannah was right about the rear tyre - I thought ah, it'll be fine for summer. Lasted 3 rides before the sidewall split
