Just heading back on the m9 tonight and saw a group of lights coming off Dumyat at a fair lick.
Looked ace, hope you enjoyed.

I'm sure they had a great time. However they will not reply as their fingers are currently being amputated due to frostbite ๐ Hence the "fair lick" they were traveling at.
awesome, nae frostbite
one of the sets of lights was me.
it's a rather (in)famous local race that happens a few times a year. My race wasn't great. I stupidly pushed a 37 lbs Bullit 6 miles through the snow to get to the top and then crashed heavily after the rocky step down (for those that know it) and just saw ICE-BLACK-ICE-BLACK a few times before skidding to a halt. I broke my chain in two places (?) and lost a lot of time putting it back together in -8'C at over 1000ft altitude.
The ice formations were a foot thick in places, frozen against the rock formations and was covered in a sprinkling of snow so reading the trail (at night) was a bit of guesswork.
I think downing a whisky at the top (the brave juice) and wearing a fullface and body armour kind of saved the day.
Awesome - still buzzing.
I was so warm I had to vent my Buffalo jacket - and it had warmed up to minus8C by the time I got home from the pub.
Aye - I was one of those lights too. It was a fantastic ride and it was possible to ride it all and way faster than you'd think so long as you'd clocked where the ice patches were to avoid on the way up. A few offs and near misses but no injuries sustained. Gid stuff likes.
@bullit "possible to ride all the way"
I had real difficulty at pendriech - the holes in the ice/snow seemed to totally catch my front wheel. I probably wasn't going fast enough!
Dumyat itself was really fast - fording the river - when it is frozen solid was handy...
