Just wAtched last weeks episode. Granted eddie izzard is a legend and a damn fine athlete it turns out, after completing all those marathons , but tell me, is the camera rickshaw and it's crew being pedalled the whole time by the traveller type bloke? They keep mentioning electric but it would appear Toyota didn't supply these batteries as every time you see traveller bloke he's pedalling away!!
i think a lot of the batteries were to power the cameras too. i imagine that the guy pedals to top up / charge the batteries as well as making it push along.
I thought the batteries were there just to help get up the hills. Can't be easy pedalling up hill with two or three people sat in the back with all their gear.

Cargo trikes usually have super low gears, and he's only got to ride 26 miles at the same speed as an overweight, 47-year-old action transvestite.
Cargo trikes generally have a triple chainring, plus a cassette, plus a hub gear. Add in an electric assist as well...
Even so, pretty good effort! However can't imagine running one marathon let alone 10 ****ers in 11 days. Fair play to him!!
It's battery assist, it said in the first episode, apparently it just about copes with a normal marathon length but on some of the hilly ones they had to get someone to push it with him pedalling.
