welded vs sleeved rims, 240 vs 350 hubs, 36t vs 18t, 150+g difference?
I'd say yes though as the XM and EX rims are super!

XM1501 are quality. Strong and as about as light as you can get without going carbon.

I have xm1501s and they seem excellent. Only pair of wheels I've ever had that had zero pinging noises on first ride, mine haven't needed truing in the 8months I've had them, no issues with straight pull spokes and even the tape they use is good. Not the quickest freehub pickup though and you cant peel off the loud graphics.

Yes, 1501 big upgrade over the 1700 imo as mentioned above. Check all the German sites too, you can often find the 1501 builds quite cheap depending on the flavour and size etc. My ex1501 are 5 years old have been absolutely thrashed and are still great.

Not the quickest freehub pickup though

You may well already know this but you can upgrade the star ratchet to speed that up.

Really? I've ridden hundreds of brand new bikes - at a wide range of price points - and don't recall this ever being a thing.

XM1501 here that have been absolutely faultless. Not sure whether I want EX next time but either way I'll definitely get a DT Swiss wheelset.

Without doubt XM1501s are the best factory built wheelset I have ever owned. Light & strong but not cheap. I have them fitted in 30mm 650b version on my Ibis Mojo HD4, has toyed with carbon but can’t see any reason to. I have owned 1700’s before which is a significant downgrade from the 1501 in my opinion

I have an Xm1501 rear, EX1501 front. Superb wheels. Got them for about 300 when Canyon were chucking out some unused stuff a while back.

Not sure how much they are retail. but once in a while CRC get OE wheels with different numbers that actually have the same components (either 240 or 350) at silly prices. I got a pair of E1650 which were 350 on EX511s 30mm for £163...
