DT Swiss 370 Freehub convert from XD to Shimano 10/11 speed - help

After some advice please on converting the above freehub which is 148x12 to fit Shimano 10/11 speed cassette.

I’ve seen one that has 3 pawls but would prefer something with more pawls/greater pick up than that.

I’ve read about ratchets but don’t understand if they’re compatible with the 370 hub, or what parts I’d need to do this?

Alternatively are there any XD compatible 10 speed cassettes that are 10-46 or greater?

Thanks

The straight and easiest swap is the Shimano freehub with 3 pawls. This should be pull off then push on the new one.

Changing to ratchets is an upgrade. DT Swiss recently introduced ratchet LN upgrade kits that contain all the parts. You have to change the ratchet ring in the hub (with one special tool) and fit a different one (with a second special tool 🤦‍♂️) then fit the new ratchets and freehub.

Thanks @nixie, sounds expensive

Is it something like this?

Yeap that's the upgrade kit. Tools are on top! DT branded tools are expensive but there are copy's available for a lot less.

But is the existing one 3 pawl or is it ratchet already?

Very good point.

OP, if the hub is relatively new it may be fitted with a ratchet already. I think these are normally marked ratchet LN.

This ^^^^^^^^

I've two sets of these hubs. The newer ones (mine are 18 months old) come with ratchet ln already, my four year old ones are 3 pawl. Take off the cassette, the ratchet ones should say "Ratchet LN" on them. If not marked, you can always pop off the end cap and remove the free hub body to check inside.

The hub is on a new 5010 I've ordered, I will check with Stif whether its the newer ratchet version (fingers crossed).

So if they are the newer ratchet version then what part do I need to convert to Shimano ?

Thanks

If it’s a ratchet anyway you just the Shimano driver as it’s a straight swap. It won’t say Ratchet LN on it unless it is the LN version (which differs from the standard Ratchet in that it has the seal on the hub body). The thing to do is take the hub off the wheel when you get it to see if it’s Ratchet or 3pawl. Thats one of the great things about it, it’s a tool-less change, I have a Shimano one actually that I’ll swap you for your XD if you like as long as it’s not a Ratchet LN one.

Overview here  https://www.dtswiss.com/en/wheels/wheels-technology/ratchet-technologies-overview

EDIT - I think the 370 generally comes with the LN version so you will need to check.

If it's an LN already you just need the correct freehub body. Just make sure to get the LN version with the seal on the freehub (rather than the hub shell). The non LN version would work in theory but there would be no sealing.

You'll also need a new HG compatible end cap, the XD end cap won't work.

Fortunately DT conversion kits come with the relevant cap.

Good point, my HG hub that is up for swaps will come with the correct end cap. 👍
