I have a 27.2 Brand X II external dropper post and I am looking to upgrade the current 2x lever it came with with an underbar option. Does anyone have a recommendation for a lever that would be compatible (maybe in red or blue?).

This. It's black. It works. Comes with clamps should you need them.
I fitted a Ztto lever off eBay to my Brand x dropper.
Great upgrade and cheap.
Loads available on eBay.
Another ztto lever here. Bargain and works well.
Not under bar but these work well with 2x and 3x systems.

The Bonty MK2 is a great lever. I've got a ZTTO too but the Bonty just feels so much better built.
That said, the ZTTO will work just fine.
I've got a brand new ZTTO in its bag somewhere in the bike room! Part of it is red anodised.

shimano are doing dropper levers now. i have a ZTTO and had a go on a bike with a deore lever. i preferred the deore in every way.
if that wolf tooth that inspired the ZTTO feels similar then id be disappointed and if i’d not bought the ZTTO i’d buy a deore
I’ve got the bonty and ztto, both noticeable improvements over the brand x. Ztto feels better than the bonty IMHO
