I am looking for recommendations for a 26x2.0 tyre, along the lines of the conti mountain king/trail king. it cant be any wider as it is to go in the rear of a Santa Cruz Blur. I have currently got conti race kings (26x2.0) on and want a bit more bite, 26x2.2racekings do not fit.

Conti, Schwalbe and Maxxis dont have anything listed on their websites

Bontrager Mud X 2.0 if they still produce them.

Most brands stopped producing 26 inch tyres several years ago now, at least in their 'proper' mtb range. Maybe have a look at ebay for some lightly or never used 26 inch ones. How old is your bike that you cant fit wider than a 2.0 on the rear?

I've got Conti 2.2" X-Kings on at this time of year. They seem to come up noticeably narrower than the 2.2 RaceKings which live on the same Hope-XC rims over the summer. Might be worth looking at if you can find any

Maxxis Ardent 2.25s? They look quite narrow

I bought a pair of Ardent 2.25s in May and I've seen XC Pros on Wiggle recently so there are new 26" tyres out there. The pandemic and the resurrection of BSOs meant supply was short in the spring but you can get some again now

I have an old 26" Anthem. I found Rocket Rons in 2.10 fit, bit tight but best I could find.

Exactly what I was going to say. I think I bought my last pair a couple of years ago from Pedal On, near Aldermaston/Tadley.

Very little choice now sadly. Most of what's available seems to be low range wire bead stuff.

CRC have some stuff in stock but all a bit wider.

I’ve got a high roller 2 on the back of my blur 4x. Think it is 2.3 wide. Seems to be enough room. Not sure if back end is the same in the original blur?

Like who?

Maxxis make plenty, so do Schwalbe, Continental too. Maybe not every exact version but usually a couple. In fact the only thing I've not been able to find in 26" so far were Rekons.

Very little choice now sadly. Most of what’s available seems to be low range wire bead stuff.

Lack of availability isn't the same as discontinued, this has been a mad year for 26" tyres.

I’m currently looking for the best 26”x2.25” mud/soft terrain tyre for the rear of my Hummingbird.
Any suggestions?
I was having a few beers with some mates the other evening and they seem to think that I’m mad even bothering with anything with a 26” wheel.
They’re all new to the game and gullible though....

Ardent 2.25 isnt the widest but tallish I have found compared to other tyres I have used in a similar size e.g. GC MK2 and TK. If there is reasonable room between tyre and seat tube I think it is worth a go although entertaining in the mud.

You could try a wire bead tyre from Halfords first and if it fits upgrade when better tyres are in stock.
