Last time i did this drive, I rode at Lee Quarry, which broke up the drive nicely but was a bit of a detour and tbh, I fancy something else this time... I'd got Llandegla stuck in my mind but it's most of the way down the drive, not really ideal.
So, just looking for suggestions really, not too far from the M6/M56 and probably Kendal or southwards for a couple of hours interesting riding, nice and easy to navigate as I can't be doing with any travelling stress when I'm breaking up my travelling stress ๐ I don't know the territory in the slightest though so kind of at a loss- I am not a Proper Mountain Biker.
Any advice much appreciated!
If you want trail centre then whinlatter or gisburn might be good. If you can arrange to meet a local and get some guiding then the world is the mollusc of your choice - plenty of riding around the M6 as you pass down the lake district / howgills, down the M61 to hit rivington, even Llandegla - there's great "natural" riding around that area
nice little route from Sedbergh. very nice indeed.

which failed to show up...bugger.
if you want the route let me know.
Gisburn is good fun. There's that nice motorway services somewhere around there too, isn't there?
Why drive hundreds of miles, when you can just ride to newly created trails from Melrose itself? ๐

I would assume because he needs to travel to ByC - for business or family perhaps - and is taking advantage of that to explore other areas?
New trails near the rose? Why'd no one tell me? Which ones are you referring to BR?
email in profile Frank, we've been out building
Isn't Scotland brill, just carve out a trail and no one bothers it (until the FC come and take out the trees) ๐
Turn off at Penrith, and head to pooley bridge, only about 25 mins of the M6. Ride up onto Askham moor to the end of high street, but instead take the big long bridleway descent down to Ullswater. Then Ullswater singletrack out to Patterdale/Glenridding, and a bite to eat. Ride back along UW (It's great both ways) and then by the road back to pooley bridge. Good ride that, and not far out the way.
If ye want a map, gimme an email NW.
Gisburn looks just the ticket- I'm not averse to a natural ride but I think a trailcenter probably fits the bill best for a quick ride, and it's in the right place. Thanks for the suggestions!

We're meeting mates and riding at antur stiniog and bike park wales- do the new melrose trails have uplift? ๐ (also Snowdon which I gather is cool, CYB which I love, and just possibly revolution bike park)
Are you thinking of the Friday?
If so, what time are you intending to get to Gisburn (if that's decided)? Might take the afternoon off and join you if that fits.
Looks like Gisburn wednesday, then I don't know, probably CYB and Bike Park Wales on the Thursday and Friday (depending mostly on when we're most likely to get on a bus at BPW)... I'll stick our plans on the main thread once it's all sorted in case anyone fancies joining us
So we'll be suitable knackered before we walk up a bloomin mountain on saturday... Whose idea was that? Hope it snows.
Sorry to hijack
Newish to the area (waves from eildon) can anyone point me to the trails yous talking about in Melrose.
Ta much
Laggan.

Blah, blah, blah
OK, cool. Won't be able to make earlier in the week, so it'll be just the Sat and Sun for me then.
Are you doing this trip soon? You might want to check the CYB Facebook page as it's taken a real kicking in the storms and it doesn't look like there is much open.
Middle of April- keeping an eye on their website, I like the Tarw anyway which I gather is open, though it's not a day's riding, but looks like we might be pushing our luck for the Beast. Not like we're short of choice, mind!
