Just got some UST tyres, a sealant kit, and non UST rims. The sealant kit instruction is saying to drill the inner/outer(? the one that the rim tape goes against) wall rim to enlarge the valve hole - is this necessary?

Well, what type of valve does the rim strip have and what drilling does the rim you're going to use have? If, for example, you have a presta valve with a presta drilling on the rim, then no. I think some Stan's rim strips come as Schraeder only, in which case if using a Presta drilled rim you'll need to drill it.

Yes, like that.
Its a stans rim strip, with a presta valve.

You'll be alright then....as long as you haven't got a schraeder drilled rim ๐
