What actually constitutes a fatbike? Is 27.5+ (3.0”) enough??

Nah. That's firmly in the Plus category. It has to be 3.8" and above.

Managed a good tour from Segnas near Disentis. The Oberalp pass was closed so set out early to get the best conditions. Biked along the railway to Sedrun and a 600m climd then a deep snow descent followed by 1.5km of heavy uphill fireroad pushing then a scoot back to base...

Still need to try and source a replacement crankset for my Voodoo Wazoo fatbike, after the driveside crank sheared through the pedal axle ~5.5 years ago, on the way to work... Single leg pedalling with a clipless pedal isn't very practical in a rolling terrain area, as it also needs a new rear mech cable too! 🤣

I'd have to check, but I think it's ~100mm.

Just remembered another issue it had before the crank sheared, the pawls stopped reliably engaging on the PlanetX FatNotFat 29er rear, so it was stuck on a single sprocket on the original fat rear wheel with choices of 22 and 38 rings!

Thankfully, I bought a replacement commuter pretty quickly (Voodoo Marasa) and I already had a road bike. Since Easter, I've also had the ebike.

Never got round to it, but I've often thought about taking the PlanetX chewy Knuckleball bars off the Wazoo to put on the Marasa, as well as the carbon fat forks. 🤣

But I owe a lot to the Wazoo fatbike, it got me enjoying riding again after my Xmas '13 rta.

A day late as I had to rebuild the rear wheel after the 12 year old XT hub died a couple of weeks ago. €30 later for a new XT hub and a pile of spare spokes that were in the parts bin and we're rolling again.

Today was one of those days when it would have been wiser to stay inside. Two and a half hours in the pouring rain wading through knee-deep snow was not ideal, but it was good to get out anyway!

Some of the descending was very good fun in a slip-sliding away kind of stylee.

Feet and hands were completely numb when I got home. Took a while to warm up. Feet were torture while I was in the shower!
