Small change big effect, bit over due I'm sure but it is just a great feeling.

Looking at doing the same very soon. I guess from what you've said that is all you've changed. I was going to change my cassette too- it is second and and a bit worn though. Do you think this will have any adverse effects? Also what cables did you use?

[b]southernsteel[/b] I use the XTR inners and outers, I stopped buy the kits and now get things individually. I've got a 10m length of outers in the shed!

I put road wheels on my commuting bike back in the autumn, so the cassette was relatively new, I should changed the chain back then! I think the advise is to change at the same time.

I usually find a cassette every other chain works for me...

Felt good until the chain started slipping in middle ring when pushing hard uphill ๐Ÿ™
