Does anyone know if there is any reason why a Shimano x12 QR should not work with a Cannondale Jekyll x12 frame?
I bought a Shimano axle but on first pass the thread doesn't seem to fit the Jekyll frame. Didn't want to force it but wondered if anyone knows of a difference - or is just a case of paint overspray reducing the dia of the frame thread?
Cheers
I think there are two x12 threads. The axle needs to match the frame.
A bit like how a maxle won't fit a fox fork even though they are both 15mm
I'd get an appropriate tap and run it through the frame to make sure it's clear.
If you mean X-12?, then it's Syntace/DTSwiss.
possibly 3 companies doing their version of the 142mm x 12mm standard now, if that's what you mean?
Syntace/DTSwiss is X-12 http://www.syntace.com/
Syntace do a reasonably cheap after market axle that requires an allen key to fit. DT do a tool free axle which is expensive

Shimano also do a 142mm x12mm axle
Sram appear to also do a Maxle 142mm x 12mm axle
As I understand it (might be wrong) neither of these are 'X-12' standard, but some sort of alternative take on 142mm x 12mm.
This is from the Jekyll specs:
Extras
High Pressure Shock Pump, DYAD Remote Lever, Syntace X-12 142 mm rear axle.
So, if you haven't got one, you need to find a Syntace X-12 axle or a DTSwiss X-12 axle (as pictured above).
looks like DT do a cheaper option now the standard has become more common

The "standard" is the dropout spacing and the diameter of the axle. How it secures to the frame varies. Axle needs to match frame, but actual hubs are interchangeable.

What is it about the bike industry and standards?
Publishing the technical specs of a proprietary (sp?) system does not make it a bloody standard!
That's the best thing about standards; there's so many to choose from.

and even then theyseem to feel the need to produce a new one.
FSA now produce a double sided A3 poster for headset standards.
It can't be good for sustainability etc when every manufacturer is off doing their own thing and producing bespoke components.
