Anyone use one? Is it a worthy acquisition or best left alone?
Had a bar thing that clamped on and stuck out one side with a short lead.....
Didn't really work very well with a springer ๐
I did get a proper paw trekker dog scooter though and proper sled harnesses for my springers when they were younger... Which worked fantastically wel(they absolutely adored it and would go mental as soon as you got it out)...although a bit pricey but great if your handling a few dogs.
For our springers we use Canicross leads something like this fastened around the stem, and one of these dog harnesses at the other end.
Works brilliantly with our pooches, they're happy to cover many miles with this set up and the elasticated lead means there are no nasty shocks (no joke intended).
Far more successful than the dog walker attachment Mrs.Pinkster had previously, which was a bit 'industrial'.
Isn't 4 mths a bit you fur running with the bike ?
Thinking of the future. Not ridden anywhere since I got him so just looking forward to a time when he can come with me.
I have a Brown lab puppy I wanted to take out riding, figured a lead attached around the seat post ish. At least until she learns to stay with me

Bad bad bad idea.
illegal down under (dog leads on bikes - not quite bikes)

She should learn to stay with you long before she's ready to go riding with you.
I use a Help For Heroes long dog lead on the bike as our normal gun dog rope leads are too short and the dog ends up in your front wheel http://shop.helpforheroes.org.uk/products/Long_Dog_Lead_%2819mm_wide%29.html
They don't break away but I don't want the dog to break away, long enough that I can keep a bit of slack and doesnt tangle up.
I only trust my dog on the lead on my bike though as she's been brought up doing it from 18 months old and can do just fine off the lead but obviously put her on where sensible to do so.
We got a walky dog here which is good for coping with roads and disconnects easily when you get off road. Handy for mixed rides.
Off road our dog is fine, but during breeding season they ask you have the dog on a lead. Then I use an extending lead clipped to the waist belt on my rucksack and he runs ahead. You hear a lot of negative stuff about extending leads but most of it comes down to people who aren't aware of their dog and surroundings, just put the lead on and think they can forget about it.
