bolts are all torqued to the correct values, the click can be felt in the left pedal ( shimano XT spd - occurs on both sides) only seems to occur when you are pushing 150+ watts

Do you have pedal washers?
I’ve had clicking from them before when I’ve not greased between the washer and crank (just on the pedal threads/axel). Took me months to track down but did mean a lot of neglected parts of my bike got a clean and fresh coat of grease.
worn cleats "sliding" on the pedals ?

I am going with a bolted joint on that clicking as the power increases you're exposing a lack of tolerance.
hmm its the turbo... i changed the cleats for new ones and then as that didnt solve it i took the bike out of the turbo trainer and took it on a ride...
deep joy now i need to find out where on the wahoo kickr the noise is coming from ( and why i can feel it in the left pedal only). I wonder if i put the bike back on the turbo the issue will magically dissappear ?
I had something similar, rear axle just needed to be a little tighter (which I discovered after buying a new Hope BB....)
As a redux to this, I took the bike out of the turbo trainer to check if it was still clicking and it wasn't. Put the bike back in the turbo trainer and it stopped clicking.....
Grit in the clamp.
Could it be a cable end getting clipped?
Its not definitely the trainer. When you ride the bike it can pivot freely at the tyres whereas on the trainer where the bike is restraining by the axle, there will be more twisting effort going through the frame, axle etc. So its likely to be the trainer but I wouldn't let the bike off the hook completely!
