I only ever get time to read whatever is on the first page ,surely a better way to run a forum would be to just consign all threads to the bin once they are no longer hot topics?

Very rare that I do. Which is why I much prefer the forum "system" or whatever it's called on the likes of bike radar. Having different categories. Just find it much nicer to use.
