Don't wear lycra. I use normal baggies and normal undies. Either I don't ride far enough or I have an arse of steel.

Underwear under Lycra is wrong. Regardless of baggy / no baggy status.

yes, never found any lycra that keeps the crown jewels in place.

briefs, not jockeys or boxers

Nope. I figured the whole point of the lycra was to stop chafing that all the stitched seams and cotton can cause with cotton pants. My wife couldnt get her head around it for a while. I just told her to think of the lycra shorts as big nylon knickers.

Endura Singletrack 3/4 pants with the new Endura mesh liner and pants for the last two rides and the chaffing was incredible (previous liners no such problems - don't understand).

On Sunday I shall be going commando 😯

Lycra under my baggies would have saved me the ride to work with little logical poking out of a ripped crotch on my baggies earlier this week. 😳

I did trial speedos under lycra for 'holding things together down there' They were comfy but it just gets too hot.

yeah my gunties are very much in a speedo stylee.

in other pants news, last night i did a quick test ride after some fettling of a mates bike, wearing my CKs.
dunno if it was the underwear, the saddle position or angle (pointing to the moon) but in 100yds, i nearly lost a bollock.

Lycra is underwear. Or do you wear pants under your pants too?

Nope, that would be weird.

Long rides might get some Minty Arse Lard involved (other forms of menthol bum lube are available), Susser makes that less likely unless long and wet ride...

You don't ride far enough - or in the rain ;-)**

**(shudders at the chaffage hell of sopping wet pants and baggies)

im hoping that saddle has slipped and he wants it straightening.
it was more pointy uppy, than any kids jumpy bmxy style thing, on an xc full suss owned by a wheels on the floor 60yo.

Thanks for relieving my boredom. I was never sure on wether to treat padded lycra shorts as "officiaL" underwear.

I once tried with nylon boxers and normal shorts and did very nearly lose a bollock.

The padding helps when "im getting nailed".....ehem..by the saddle

I wear all three of the garments mentioned by the OP.

But in the opposite order.

I like to stand out in a crowd.

So really brightly padded shorts on the outside, inside out?

Man's got style!

Boxers under baggies for me, can't abide chamois etc which makes lycra pretty pointless.

Pants UNDER Lycra UNDER baggies????

hahahahaha

Almost as silly as Lycra on its own without baggies.

Seriously though, they'd melt.

Nothing under the Lycra, occasionally baggies over the too but this is getting increasingly rare.

plumbing the depths of boredom even more......

if wearing just padded lycra (no pants, be they under or over said lycra!) should one wash ones lycra after every ride or does one simply wait until

A. the acquisition of infection and sores
B. until the lycra walks itself to the laundry basket
C. a + b combined with chamois being brown, regardless of starting colour?

D. Don't wash the shorts, just rub a bit of chamois cream into the pad after every ride to freshen it up a bit.

Quick sniff - if I recoil in horror I don't put them on, if my eyes start to water i check the other pair and weigh up which is worse then repeat til they get bad enough to wash.

I thought that was how you were supposed to wash them?

I use my old sports thong (which doesnt have the strap up the crack but two around the cheeks) and keeps everything in place at the front more comforatble than anything else I have tried

I wash after ever ride 😳 unless it was a shortish one, or dry and very cold, in which case they live for one more ride. But only one mind...

wash after ever ride

why embarassed?

I can't imagine anythign worse than putting on a pair of bacteria infested shorts that have been kickign around for days unwashed.

gentle wash after every ride with non-biological powder for all my kit bar waterproofs that I can just give a quick shower to to remove mud.

Just lycra or padded baggies. Washed after every ride to remove the lingering stench of fear.

Not sure, seemed it was all going to be a blokey thing of "I'll wear 'em till they pedal on their own"... I'm not ashamed. honest...

I used to be a bit like that.. proper macho I was.. OH yes..

until I suffered a few infected haemorrhoids... 😯

no pants or sports thongs or anything necessary here (tiny genitals) just a well washed padded liner short..

Slight thread hijack but what is the deal with chamois cream?

I've been cycling for over 20years and never used the stuff or felt like I should. What am I missing?

What am I missing

Minty freshness and a slightly slathery feel under twixt butt and lycra.

I tried it once but, tbh, never have problems without it so haven't repeated the experience.
