Hi all - if you use the military lands around please could you take two minutes to complete the short survey linked below and tell us how you use the military lands that surround our communities.

As the byelaw review consultation approaches, it has never been more important to be able to articulate to DIO and our MPs how important the lands are to us. Unfortunately there is very little information available on how our communities actually use the land – most of the information focuses on the antisocial acts of the irresponsible few.

By completing the survey you’ll be helping to ensure that the consultation can focus on how responsible users make use of the lands and their importance to our communities.

If you'd like to be superhelpful, please share the facebook post (either on your timeline or into local groups):

done but there's an error in the survey - you ask for first four digits of postcode, but you mean the first part. I'm in GU2 area (just north of Guildford) - full postcode GU2 9xx. Answering the survey as requested, the first four digits would be GU29  and then you'd have me down as Midhurst.

Done, but I thought the review was a week or so ago. Btw, I wrote to my MP (Gove) no response, and my Surrey CC Councillor (Hawkins)- no reply either... wait until he knocks on my door canvassing.

Nope - the consultation was meant to happen in April / May, but they canned it when the campaign was launched. The local MPs met with the minister responsible on the 22nd. Consultation date is as yet unannounced - the campaign continues! Thank you for writing to your MP - it all helps.

For anyone who rides any of the military land in the area I thought it worth sharing this advice here:

https://trailactiongroup.co.uk/2020/12/16/stopped-on-the-lands-guidance-on-what-to-do

I was stopped after riding a trail on Barossa last week and while I knew some of the history between TAG and the DIO I wasn't fully clued up on how best to respond.
