In the process of putting a hardtail together, will mainly be for road use, Surrey Hills and the Clwyds, will probably put a double or triple chainset on it (cheap second hand) but I very rarely switch front cogs anyway. Do I really need a front mech if I am not gonna change front cogs ot will my chain wander?

Hi, You will probably skip the chain off over rough ground, as the rear mech bounces. you obviously dont need one on a singlespeed as the chain length is constant.
