Looking at a new Garmin, have the edge 200. looking for a feature to split screen. Perhaps Navigation top half. bottom half perhaps virtual partner info. Is that possible.
I've just got an (older now) 810, and there is at least some Virtual Partner info on the Navigation screen. You can see on the map where you are in relation, but cant remember if you can get much more data than that (making this post only partially useful)
Edge 520 allows you to configure the screen in all sorts of ways - I'm not sure if the navigation window is full screen only but can check when I get home.
Short answer is no.
Longer answer is you can get a Connect IQ data field “Mapfield” which displays a mini map; it alternates every few seconds between a close view and an overview of your full route (which I find irritating; I want it to stick on the latter), but it’s just a breadcrumb, no navigation.
But if you’re on a data screen and you’re using turn by turn navigation, when you approach a junction it’ll show you a map of the junction anyway, so you may not actually need/want a split screen.
You can also add two data fields to the map screen.
Edge 1000 allows you to configure data fields on the map, the number (sure you can have more than 2) and what they are. It's going to depend exactly which virtual partner fields you mean, but you can have map at the top (not the bottom) and then 4 fields at the bottom including (say) distance ahead/behind, speed, distance and power, or whatever.
Edit: nope, still only 2 data fields on the 1000 or 1030, ignore me!
Bez, which unit are you talking about. cheers
Any of them with Connect IQ or maps/navigation as applicable.
I can't help with the Edge units/virtual training, but my Oregon allows a customisable dashboard to be placed on the map screen; the dashboard can then be shown or hidden as required.
Would distance ahead/behind and time ahead/behind be enough info, since as njee says above you can definitely add two data field to the map screen?
