why do many and which to choose?

Moto pins - maybe okay in the centre.

Step pins 11mm unthreaded shaft

Flip pins 12mm threaded all the way

King pins 14.5mm threaded all the way

Boils down to length Vs sharpness.

Any experience?

I thought the Moto pins were awful. Far less grip than the standard Flip pins yet even better at ripping your skin open. Replaced them all fairly sharpish!

I'm pretty sure I've only experienced the Moto pins in the middle of the brendogs they came with. I think the lack of grip there adds to the concave feel though

Just curious about all the other options for the long pins

Threads definitely add extra grip but chew your shoes up a lot more. I also think that you can go too long and not sink into the pedal enough. Out of that choice, I’d go for the flip pins.

On their V12 pedals, the best pins I had were cheap grub screws from eBay. Not sure if that would work with Vaults though.

I miss DMR Terror Pins, they worked really well back in the day

Not ridden DMR pedals in years but when I damaged the the pins on one pedal when I had them I went to the fitters at work and just got some grub screws off them. They had a good selection of sizes too.
