Planning on doing my first proper snow ride tomorrow, seems as we are due more fresh snow tonight...just wondering though, I am running a Maxxis Advantage up front and an Ignitor at the rear, will this be ample? (I dont have any cash so I hope so!) otherwise is there any home remedies for making DIY snow tyres??

was out last night in the snow on bonty jones acx - work fine - only one crash on a big forzen puddle under the snow.

tip that - if you see any large flat areas of snow on trails - it means water! lol

Had plenty of grip with normally knobbly tyres, dont the threads/studs help on ice rather than snow? I have just been going round ice rather than crossing it. Hardly any of it "had" to be crossed but nice and easy was ok for those bits.

Been using Schwalbe Nobby Nics on soft snow and compacted snow and they`ve worked fine.

Anything with a fairly open tread pattern should be fine.

Cool I may just stick with advantages on front and back then...

Self tapping screws (with domed heads) screwed from the inside through the nobs on a nobbly tyre of your choice, heads covered with duct tape...works fine for ice.3 years in the alps has taught me that nothing works on fresh snow, which is the point of riding in it, surely? Enjoy your ride

I wouldn't bother wrecking a good pair of tyres for a couple of weeks of snow, especially as you've said you're short on funds
