Disc rotor upsize on On-one Big Dog

Is there a specific rear post mount brake mount that will fit on a Big Dog frame? Wanting to go from 160 to 180 but there isn’t a great deal of space above the calliper - the calliper sits between the chainstay and seatstay - so I’m wondering if there is an option that pushes the calliper forward and up rather than just up and into the seatstay so I can fit the bolts in.

anyone done this and know which the best option is? I don’t think the Shimano one with longer bolts will be too easy to fit so just want to hunt for something suitable.

Hayes adapters are like that, shifting to the side rather than up. They take two pairs of bolts for adapter-frame and caliper-adapter.

Interested if you find a solution, I only had a spare Hope adaptor around when I built my BigDog but that shifts it back and up so not suitable (unless the adaptors can be run reversed - never tried that?).

If you can’t fit one in could you just upsize your front rotor instead? Going from 200mm to 220mm at the front gave me a useful improvement on my Sentinel.

I don't know the answer but if you're on Facebook it might be worth asking on here:

Lot of Big Dog owners on that group. Please post on here if you find a solution as I've been wondering if it's possible too.

I’ve just found 2 +20mm adapters in the garage so might whack em on and see how it goes, a cut down hex key might be required for the bolts but we’ll see.

@joebristol I’ve only got a 180mm on the front at the moment so with my +3 stone that I have on you even a 220mm rotor light not be enough!

@pimpingimp

I’d say my codes with a 220mm front / 180mm rear stop pretty well. Just wish I had the RS / RSC version rather than just the R.

Thats with me clumsily bashing my way through stuff on a bike I guess is 34-35lbs in weight - and braking quite a lot on steep stuff like a Risca. On the Mendips I can’t imagine much that would need monster brakes - although I haven’t tried the steep tech stuff that is apparently down one of the sides into Burrington Combe behind the old garden centre?

Just checked and mine came with 180mm as standard, it was sold 3 years ago as summer of love

Just to close the thread out - standard +20mm PM adapters work fine, you just need a ball headed hex key to secure the rearmost bolt.
my adapters are unbranded, probably Toby and Theo or whoever they are from eBay, sort of angled so they set the calliper at an angle rather than just lifting it out 10mm. Job jobbed.

now to bleed them, OEM SRAM G2R’s apparently don’t have bleeding edge so I’ll be pissing oil on the garage floor later no doubt,
