Had a couple of decent length rides out now and I love this thing. Twitchy as hell, but I built it for easy XC stuff so all good. Feels fast, and the belt drive just works, no skipping but not so tight that I can feel any noticable resistance
This was relatively cheap, but the urge to convert my other bike to belt drive may make it expensive in the broader sense

Very nice! What’s it made of?
Oh yea, my post is a bit thin on details isn't it
It's a Spot Rocker (thanks to @kettlefishbanana), about 10 years old I think, and made from fancy 853 steel
Isn't it amazing how quick our eyes have become accustomed to slack head angles - I bet that's not *particularly* steep, but it looks it!
Does look a giggle*

*In the same way a fat bike looks completely wrong but makes you smile.
My Spot is still the bike I enjoy riding the most. It looks a great bike made me smile 🙂

It may be steeper than 71 deg actually... I think it's 71 with a 100mm fork, but not sure if that's sagged or not
Looks very different from my old Stooge MK5, with it 66 deg HA and 80mm offset!
And thanks Bruce, I do like it
May be this is the bike I'll finally try a Schlumpf Drive on...
That ^^ brings back memories.
Here's my spot from around 2004. Had a few SS's before, but this was the pinnacle of my singlespeeding experience. Light, Zingy and - now - I assume terrifyingly twitchy. I think that's a 100mm fork, but might be a 80.
Waited ages for it, but it was worth it. Sold it when I decided gears were a victimless crime 🙂
I'd completely forgotten about Spot bikes. That looks lovely, the wheelbase looks mega short - going by the distance from front wheel to crank arm.
a11y, it's the first mtb I've ever had with toe overlap 🙂 Fortunately it's as subtle as it could be and def not a problem in motion (and I've previously sold a gravel bike due to toe overlap, so this is not an issue I'm immune too)
I'd love to get one of the newer steel Spot Rockers as well, and build it up more trail:
