[Closed] Disc braked off the shelf touring frame?

Is there anyone that manufactures a steel disc braked frame that will readily accept mechanical disc brakes mudguards and racks front and rear for 700c wheels?

Kaffenback is where my money would go. I'd wait till the initial rush is over and it's discounted.

What about your ti frame?

Al, Ti On One is a hassle to fit my tubus rack on the rear, mudguard fitting near impossible with caliper location too. Front mudguard fitting pesky with caliper in the way again.

Kaffenback looks good, but would need to find a fork too.

Use a different rack?

What's the hassle with caliper location? Can you not bend the stays to go around the caliper (I had to do this with the Amazon)?

ah, front racks. fair enough.

cant you get P clips or something though?

Anyway, pomp forks arent that heavy so I cant imagine that the kaffenbacks arent that heavy

The Ti frame is flexy without the chainstay bridge with just me on it.

They bend the front mudguard stays to fit. Crude but workable.

I was thinking of a frame along the lines of a Raleigh Soujourn.

stoner me ol' mate - 1.1kg, not a huge amount but wince-inducing for a weight-weenie roadie like me.

Pete you could get a bridge welded on? Only kidding...it'd make **** all difference.

Raleigh looks nice, Doubt anything will beat the K'back for value tho.

Weight:
26" frame (56cm) = 2.55kg (5lb10oz), fork = 1.25kg (2lb12oz. ; 700c frame (58cm) = 2.58kg (5lb11oz), fork = 1.13kg (2lb8oz)

How do they get away with this on a £400 frameset? At least Salsa are pretty.

Having owned one, that's the very last frame I'd take touring. Too light and flexy and an absolute pain in the arse to get the back wheel out of when there's a rack and mudguards in the way. It's a fast commuter, nothing more.

That peregrin looks promising. Has anyone got any photos/info on using it with a Rohloff setup.

Not keen on Thorn products. They look a bit agricultural for me...

thanks coastkid - nice pic on the link to the surly showing what is meant (ithink) by the term "inboard" disc mounts - plenty of rack clearance there

Like the look of the Kaffenback (agricultural dropouts notwithstanding) but apparently on previous models even the 32mm tyre clearance quoted was a bit optimistic. Meaning that fitting 'cross tyres for a bit of rough stuff wasn't an option.

Salsa Fargo? - bit more rugged than the Vaya with loads of clearance for big tyres. I love mine.

'Nother vote for Singular Peregrine. Perfect for what you want, and gives you a few options if you feel bike-restless (SS roadbike, rigid 29er with 2" nobblies, heavyish CX...)
