I have Hope brakes on all my bikes and find that they do need a fair amount of maintaining to achieve optimum braking.
Are there any others that offer good power, don't cost the earth and reduce servicing? Quite like the looks of Avid Elixir CR's and Formula RX/ORO.
unfortunately in my experience, all discs I've used have needed a fair bit of tlc - I guess it's the nature of getting them covered in crap virtually every ride 🙂
SLX are £48 per end at Ribble excluding rotors
What maintaining are they needing? Not trolling but interested.
I find that once set up properly which can be a bit of a fiddle all they then require is an annual bleed thru and new pads every few thousand miles
I couldn't recommend Avid (Juicys) for anyone wanting a maintenance free life - maybe Elixiers are better - although you DO NEED the Avid bleed kit.
tbh I've put the older style Hope's on my kids bikes, as they are easy to maintain using standard fluid and motorcycle style bleeding.

Have moved on to 2 sets of Louise now - nice 😉
Didn't get on with the Avids, the Hayes I had felt very wooden, the Shimano ones - well lets see.....

and the fact that the distributer won't sell you any spare parts, so if you've got some 2nd hand your stuck with paying excessive amout for a repair or buying new ones... I will admit though, that my Magura Louise FR were the most powerful brakes I've ever had, pity there a mess now..
A lot of people seem to slag them off but ,Avid Juicy 7s have worked for me. The only tweaking I do is to put Castrol Red Rubber grease on the pistons.The pad springs were a faff at first,but I am used to them now.
Just did the TR on them ,7 days,all conditions, one set of pads back and front(superstar gold).

Luckily never had any issues with the 3 sets of Julies and the 2 sets of Louises in current use (fingers crossed now - lol)
Got / had older style Hopes on a number of bikes, and (as TJ above), once settled require hardly anything and just keep stopping me.
Well maybe mine are just getting old! I have had to replace master cylinder seals, diaphragms and regular bleeding.
I have four sets of mono mini's, one set of M4's and a couple of sets of mini's.
