Looking on the map, am I right in saying the main climb up Winter hill from the south starts from just to the west of Montcliffe quarry? If I do that, are there good descents going back down the same side?
Thinking of riding out there from Manc and getting the train back, and have always wondered what it's like up Winter Hill. Worth a climb up?

dont gpo good friday whatever you do and that whole weekend whill likely be busy

Mail me and I can send you memory map stuff and let you know of other stuff there

Depending on the day I can possibly ride as well

you would not climb up form there and if you were you would be better off starting in Horwich

DONK and Lowey are the guys for Bolton routes I will e-mail them when I get in re this thread I live on the civilised dry side 😉

San marino is one of the best descents in the country IMHO [ without an actual mountain being involved the best i have ridden tbh

Got to be San Marino

Its cut up to **** up there at the moment

Get the train out to Horwich, climb up, down San Merino, into Belmont, pick up the Witton Weavers over to Darwen Moor, get the train back from Darwen. I used to do that run regular

Nice one - looks spot on. I was thinking of going out after work this week so it looks like that route might fit in nicely.
