[Closed] Deore 11-51 rear cassette: Rattling like a rattling thing

I had problems with rattling SunRace - but now fitted to a spare wheel , on the same free hub body and it is fine.
Bought new steel free hub for my normal wheels ( hope pro 4 hubs) - and a Deore 11-51 rear cassette - which now rattles like a bastard. It's no loose on the free body (like the sun race) but the alloy spider attaching the big cogs seems to have loads of play in it!
Is that normal - and get used to it buster - or do I have a set of Friday afternoon rear cogs?
Thanks

If its 11spd, you'll need the spacer before the cassette on a hope hub, but you'll know that I'm sure

Can you see if there is movement where the rivets are?

I had heard of AliExpress rivets coming loose (mine still solid so far) but not Shimano till now. I might need to look at the fully machined ones if the rivets fall out of mine.

I can't help you with the tech. question, but the simile for rattling is "like a skeleton w*nking in a biscuit tin".

APF 🙂

spotted that mine was doing this yesterday, rivets really loose, I've emailed the seller buts its in Germany so expecting some fun there, sure a spot of weld will fix it but a replacement should be the solution, its only 5 months old....

Okay - so,I am not alone then. All I have to do is remember where I bought it from

Ah - bought from Bikester - so that’s where the problems will begin.

Mine came from bike-discount.de but that was pre brexit so I'm anticipating trouble especially if they want it back!!!, apparently any Shimano dealer can do the warranty claim but don't feel comfortable with that due to not purchasing there....

I bought a replacement, as I'm not sure it is worth the hassle of sending back to Germany 🤔

My issue being the loose rivets as per this Reddit post - Not by me.

Reddit - MTB - Shimano Deore 11 speed 11-51 loose, anyone else had this? bike is only couple of months old https://www.reddit.com/r/MTB/comments/jvwtqn/shimano_deore_11_speed_1151_loose_anyone_else_had/

^ thanks ICIC
That is exactly the issue ...
Just sent a email to Bikster - post Brexit may be a challenge - but I guess they could refund.

The alloy spider unit is loose on some freehub splines, he packs it out.

I got a rebate from Bikester - I am not sure it was the full amount I paid but I got around 55 quid back. TBH , I thought I was going to get nothing.
That said I have bastardized the cassette and used the smaller cogs on my other bike ...
Basically Shimano has an issue with build quality
