Opinionated and arguementative seem to fit a lot of people on here.

Opinionated and arguementative

would you prefer prefer credulous and self-effacing ?

Using Pareto (80:20 rule) to analyse the STW population, I'm sure we'd find that 80% do fit in nicely with the stereotypes on Urban Dictionary! I'm just glad I come into the 20%, not being middle aged (I'm still in my 20's), not owning an Audi, not working in IT or engineering, not owning a singlespeed/rigid/ti/expensive AM bike at all.

Though I can't ride for toffee, so I suppose that means I qualify by proxy!

Bloody funny though those descriptions though! Made me chuckle.

Really is sad to see someone would go to the effort of writing such a thing though - they must have really been upset by people on here.

Incidentally whilst being an engineer and occasionally riding a SS I dont really fit the rest of the criteria. Maybe I should leave and find one of the vacuous, banal fora in which to waste my time.

2nd one must have humiliated (ridden past up hill) by a thin bloke in lycra team kit on a carbon/ti xc bike. Alternatively he could just be a fat looser who has not reached what he thought was his potential because the bag of chips on shoulder holds him back.

1st on is not fair.

I thought it was an entertaining, tongue-in-cheek critique. It is of course spurious to dismiss unknown 3rd parties as poseurs when it's impossible to assess their skills or devotion to mountain biking though a written medium. I think it goes without saying that if you're not quite involved with the sport you'd have no reason to participate on here.

Getting close to it...

Nearly became an engineer and nearly bought an Audi.

Overweight-check

Pompous-check

Single speed-not anymore!

Close but no cigar baby 😈

Obviously whoever wrote that explanation must have posted on the forum and got ripped by the ****ers on here like me. 😐

You have to admit there are a lot of engineers on here. Obviously you expect the ITers 'cos they are all on computers and bored rigid.

A remarkable number of engineers ride MTBs - I'd guestimate 50% of the people I've met randomly on trails and struck up a conversation with have been engineers.

There should be a new definition being added shortly. Don't know if it'll improve matters though...

Overall, I think they are a backwards development in cycling technology.

😕

Hmmm

Audi check! (sold the TT for an RX8)
Fat check (far too many years off the bike being corrected now)
Rigid Singlespeed check! 94 Cincercone conversion in the shed.
Job title "Software (check!) Engineer (check!)"
Argumentative check!
English FAIL. Despite being 16 years in Twickers AKA HQ, I consider myself Welsh Canadian
Trail Centre check! (Nant yr Arian a few minutes ride from the front door)

Only joined in Jan after the crash. Already feel at home thanks guys ;D

I really should find that other forum called 'SocialistBatteredFiestaDrivingFroggy****tingAboutInTheWoodsBuildingSillyLittleTrailsWorld.com

I do like to read a good long word that I then have to look up in the dictionary though. I have learnt quite a few from here. But I save my grammar pedantry for when other folk correct each other and then get their own posts less than perfect. If we didn't say things wrong or jumbled up then we would still speak like the Elizabethans!
